The University of Wisconsin Stevens Point (UWSP) has the largest percentage of undergraduate classes taught by regular faculty among all of the schools within the highly respected UW System - composed of over 25 colleges and universities. UWSP offers a wide range of academic programs to over 8,700 students. Some of these unique programs are within the College of Natural Resources, one of the nation’s most prestigious training programs for environmental managers. UW-Stevens Point was also the first school to create an undergraduate curriculum in Health Promotion and Wellness, and we annually host the National Wellness Conference. In addition, UWSP continues to have an exceptionally strong Fine Arts program. A $26 million project is currently expanding the College of Fine Arts building, providing numerous state-of-the-art facilities. We are also home to the American Suzuki Institute, an intensive musical program for students, parents and teachers. In addition to strong academic programs, UWSP is extremely successful in other areas as well. For example, the nationally recognized International Programs annually sends hundreds of students around the world for semester, winter, spring, and summer session trips. Athletically, UWSP ranked 5th among all 433 Division III schools within the NCAA.

UW-Stevens Point has many interesting school myths: 1) if a student gets stuck in an elevator on campus, they will flunk their next exam 2) if you kiss someone when the St. Stan's church bell rings you will end up marrying that person 3) a supernatural figure is said to have moved objects in areas throughout Knutzen hall. UW-Stevens Point also has several school traditions, but the most unusual one involves potatoes. The "Spud Bowl" as it is called, includes the homecoming football game and numerous fun events before the game - many of which use potatoes!
